Gwangjin District (District Mayor Kim Kyungho) will operate the outdoor library "Gwangjin Wonderland" at the Forest Yard of Seoul Children's Grand Park from May 5 to June 22, 2025.
Following last year's "Book-Reading Ttukseom Grand Garden" held at Hangang Park, this year's "Gwangjin Wonderland" will be even more vibrant, with themes of nature, fantasy, and childhood innocence.
First, visitors can enjoy a curated selection of books by theme and a total of about 2,000 books provided on-site, all within a green reading space equipped with beanbags and camping chairs.
There are also special areas for the whole family to enjoy together. The comic book room, designed to evoke nostalgia for adults, offers a collection of around 800 series comic books. In the "Retro Music Room," visitors can listen to music on an LP player. Children can participate in hands-on experiences in the adventure-themed kids' cafe, such as exploring a world made of cardboard or creating fairy tale worlds with blocks, allowing them to craft their own stories.
A variety of programs are also available for residents visiting the outdoor library. These include a book concert with authors, a secret reading session, the used book exchange market "Pulip Market," and the "Book GPT Prescription," offering unique ways to engage with books.
In addition, the reading campaign "One book with Gwangjin" will be held. The books selected for 2025 are "One of These Is a Lie" by Kim Aeran and "Mr. Elephant's Gentle Bookshop" by Lee Siwon, with various related reading programs planned.
"Gwangjin Wonderland" will be held in conjunction with the Seoul Children's Garden Festival, operating as a special event on May 5 and 6. Afterward, it will be open every Saturday and Sunday from May 10 to June 22, except on rainy days. For more details, please visit the official Instagram page.
Kim Kyungho, Mayor of Gwangjin District, stated, "I hope you will create joyful memories with books at 'Gwangjin Wonderland,' the outdoor library set in the lush nature of Children's Grand Park in May. We will do our utmost to ensure the outdoor library operates safely."
