A Total of 11.66 Billion Won to Be Invested by 2028
80 Billion Won in National Funding and 36 Billion Won in Local Funding Allocated
Goheung County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Gong Youngmin) announced on May 1 that the Clean Food Complex in Donggang-myeon has been finally selected for the "Industrial Complex Environment Creation Project Package" competition, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, securing 8 billion won in national funding.
This selection is the result of Goheung County's active efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of its industrial complexes and to create a sustainable industrial environment. In particular, the construction of a youth culture center and the "Beautiful Street Plus" project received high marks.
Through this project, the county will establish key infrastructure to enhance the competitiveness of the Clean Food Complex. In particular, by building a new youth culture center and implementing the Beautiful Street Plus project, the county plans to transform the industrial complex from a mere production space into an attractive, multi-purpose cultural space where young people can visit, enjoy, and stay.
The new youth culture center will have a total area of 803.7 square meters and will be equipped with facilities to meet various needs of young people, including a cafe, meeting rooms, and residential-style dormitories. This is expected to greatly contribute not only to improving the welfare of industrial complex workers, but also to attracting more young people to the region.
The Beautiful Street Plus project, which will be promoted in parallel, includes the installation of smart streetlights over a 1.5-kilometer section within the industrial complex, the creation of a rain-free street, renovation of outdated landscapes, improvement of pedestrian environments, and expansion of rest areas. The county aims to make the industrial complex a more pleasant and safer space, thereby creating a favorable environment for businesses.
A total of 11.66 billion won (8 billion won in national funding and 3.66 billion won in local funding) will be invested in this project over four years from 2025 to 2028.
Governor Gong Youngmin stated, "Being selected for this competition will serve as a crucial turning point for fundamentally improving the structure of our county's industrial complexes, as well as realizing a Goheung that attracts young people and retains businesses. We will continue to do our utmost to secure national funding and expand customized industrial infrastructure to build a sustainable industrial ecosystem."
The county plans to formally launch the project after signing an agreement with the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, with construction scheduled to begin in the first half of 2026 following swift design and administrative procedures.
