Indicted Without Detention on Charges of Trespassing and Theft
A male fan in his 20s, known as a "sasaeng," was found to have been indicted for repeatedly breaking into the shared residence of the group NewJeans and stealing items.
According to the prosecution and police on May 1, the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office indicted Mr. A, a man in his 20s, without detention on April 25 on charges of trespassing and theft after breaking into the NewJeans residence.
Mr. A is accused of breaking into the NewJeans residence in Yongsan-gu, Seoul on December 21, 2024, and stealing items such as hangers and banners.
According to the police investigation, Mr. A also entered the NewJeans residence without permission on December 18, 2024, three days prior. After discovering that the door was not locked, he broke in once more before stealing the items.
NewJeans vacated the residence in early December 2024, after terminating their contract with ADOR at the end of November 2024.
Previously, in August 2024, a post threatening a terror attack specifically targeting the NewJeans residence was uploaded to an online community. The unidentified author of the post specified the NewJeans residence and stated, "Next time, I will even find out the unit number," threatening further action. However, it has not been confirmed whether the author of the post was Mr. A.
