Goo Hye Sun at KAIST Teams Up with Anti-Hair Loss Shampoo Professor... 'Big Hit Expected'

Announcement of Patented "Unfoldable Hair Roller" Launch
Innovative Design Fits Easily in a Card Wallet

Actress Goo Hye Sun (40) announced that she is preparing to launch her patented "Unfoldable Hair Roller." This product was developed in collaboration with Lee Hae Shin, a KAIST Distinguished Professor of Chemistry, who is well-known for developing a KAIST anti-hair loss shampoo.

Goo Hye Sun, currently pursuing a master's degree in engineering at the KAIST Graduate School of Science Journalism, posted on Instagram on April 29, stating, "The 'Unfoldable Hair Roller' is about to be released soon. In the middle of an intense meeting," along with photos and videos.

The "Unfoldable Hair Roller" features a flat, rectangular structure, unlike conventional cylindrical hair rollers, and can be bent to the desired size for use. When not in use, it can be folded thinly and easily carried in small spaces such as a card wallet. Goo Hye Sun personally invented and patented this product, which was previously introduced in January on the MBC variety show "Radio Star."

Goo Hye Sun revealed on "Radio Star" in January that she had registered a patent for the "Unfoldable Hair Roller." At the time, she explained that after seeing students' hair rollers, she wondered, "Why are they always that shape? Isn't it inconvenient to carry around?" This led her to create the new design. She added, "If you carry multiple hair rollers, they take up a lot of space. But this one can be slipped into a card wallet or anywhere when not in use."

Professor Lee, who participated in the development, was also involved in creating a shampoo using KAIST patented technology that was recently recognized for its effectiveness in reducing hair loss. This product ranked first in sales among hair care products at Olive Young offline stores on its launch day.

Goo Hye Sun re-enrolled in the Department of Film at Sungkyunkwan University in 2020 and graduated at the top of her class in February last year. In June of the same year, she entered the KAIST Graduate School of Science Journalism, where she is currently pursuing a master's degree in engineering. She is affiliated with the KAIST Computational Social Science and Future Strategy Laboratory, continuing her research there.
