Hanam City in Gyeonggi Province officially opened Gam-il Overpass No. 1 (located at 97-10, Gam-il-dong) on April 30, fulfilling a long-standing wish of local residents. Mayor Lee Hyunjae personally conducted an on-site inspection before the opening and emphasized, "Gam-il Overpass No. 1 is an achievement made possible by the collaboration between citizens and the city."

According to Hanam City on May 1, Gam-il Overpass No. 1 is a road bridge connecting Gam-il Public Housing District and Seobu Elementary School. It was reinstalled at the original site of a bridge that had been demolished due to the expansion of the Seoul Metropolitan Area Circular Expressway. This section was not initially included in the metropolitan transportation improvement plan, so there were no plans to restore the overpass. However, Mayor Lee took residents' continuous petitions and concerns about school commute safety seriously, and led negotiations with Korea Expressway Corporation, ultimately converting the project.
During the on-site inspection, Mayor Lee stated, "Gam-il Overpass No. 1 is not just a road; it is a core piece of infrastructure for residents' daily lives, safety, and regional connectivity," adding, "The city will continue to reflect voices from the field in its policies, based on communication with citizens."
A total of 6.1 billion won was invested in the overpass, which was constructed as a three-lane road with a length of 104 meters and a width of 11.65 meters. It consists of two lanes toward Gambuk-dong and one lane toward Gam-il-dong. An elevator to improve accessibility for those with mobility challenges is also scheduled to be installed by the 30th.
Mayor Lee also promoted related projects such as road maintenance within the Gam-il District and securing additional lanes in front of Seobu Elementary School, focusing on improving safety for students commuting to and from school and enhancing traffic flow. As a result, much of the traffic inconvenience caused by delays in the construction of the Bangadari-gil and Oryun Intersection connecting road is expected to be resolved.
Mayor Lee emphasized, "By completing the construction of the Bangadari-gil to Oryun Intersection connecting road by August, we will complete the metropolitan transportation network for the Gam-il District," adding, "As the mayor responsible for the future of Hanam City's transportation, I will continue to do my utmost."
Meanwhile, Gwangam-ro, which served as a detour road during the demolition of the overpass, has been refurbished and will now be operated as an official road in parallel. This is being recognized as a proactive measure by Hanam City, considering the daily routines of its citizens.
