Changwon Special City Encourages Workers
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced that Jang Geumyong, acting mayor of Changwon Special City, attended the '2025 Workers' Cultural Festival' held at KBS Changwon Hall in celebration of Labor Day and encouraged local workers.
The event, held on April 30 and hosted by the Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters of the Federation of Korean Trade Unions with support from Gyeongsangnam-do, was attended by about 1,000 people, including workers and their families. The festival featured a commemorative ceremony with awards for exemplary workers and a variety of cultural events, including performances by popular singers.
Acting Mayor Jang Geumyong presented the Changwon Mayor's Award to 10 exemplary workers who contributed to the development of the local labor culture, expressing deep gratitude by saying, "Changwon has been able to grow into a leading industrial city in Korea thanks to all of you workers."
He also stated, "We will walk together to ensure that the value of labor is respected and that the value of labor-management coexistence is realized through mutual growth and cooperation," adding, "In particular, we will spare no effort and attention to eliminate blind spots in labor welfare and to improve welfare."
Meanwhile, Changwon City is promoting various labor welfare policies, including support projects to protect the rights and interests of vulnerable workers such as the Non-Regular Workers' Counseling Center, projects to promote labor-management coexistence and cooperation, and the creation and support of rest areas for mobile workers.
