Buyeo County in South Chungcheong Province is set to actively promote the establishment of a "Youth Fund" aimed at supporting young people to settle in the region and achieve self-reliance.

On May 1, Buyeo County announced plans to create a Youth Fund totaling 20 billion won by 2028, with an annual contribution of 5 billion won.

The fund will be raised through county contributions and fund operation profits. It will be used to fill gaps in government policies and to develop and support youth policies tailored to the unique characteristics of Buyeo County.

The areas of focus include: ▲ youth employment and entrepreneurship (such as smart farms, specialized industries, and startup spaces), ▲ housing support (utilization of vacant houses, public housing, and housing cost subsidies), ▲ welfare and culture (support for isolated youth, family care, and cultural activities), and ▲ youth participation (policy proposals and community revitalization).

To this end, on April 30, the county held the "Buyeo County Youth Fund Operation and Deliberation Committee" meeting at the Seodong Briefing Room in the county office, where it presented appointment letters to committee members, elected the vice chair, and deliberated on the fund creation and operation plans.

The committee is chaired by the Deputy County Governor and consists of a total of 12 members, including 3 ex officio members and 9 appointed members. The term of office for committee members is two years, from 2025 to 2027, and their responsibilities include establishing fund operation plans and reviewing settlement reports.

Through the Youth Fund, the county plans to improve the quality of life for local youth and accelerate efforts to establish a foundation for youth settlement in response to population decline.

Park Junghyun, County Governor, stated, "The launch of the committee marks a shift from one-sided support for youth to creating a foundation where young people can design and realize their own futures. We will continue our efforts to make Buyeo a place where young people want to stay and can achieve their dreams."
