Non-destructive testing for buildings over 40 years old
The Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education announced that it will conduct regular and detailed safety inspections in the first half of the year at 285 educational facilities, including kindergartens and elementary, middle, and high schools.
This inspection will involve professional organizations to prevent disasters and accidents, checking for cracks, the condition of major structures, and the safety of exterior wall finishes.
In particular, for buildings that are over 40 years old, non-destructive tests will be conducted to additionally examine concrete strength and carbonation depth.
The inspection results will be registered in the Facility Information Management System for systematic management, with the goal of ensuring the safety of educational facilities.
Cho Gwangmin, Director of Facilities at the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education, stated, "We will thoroughly carry out safety inspections so that students can learn in a safe environment and enjoy a happy school life, and we will continue to strengthen the safety of educational facilities."
