Seohae Nuriho Ferry Between Daebudo, Pungdo, and Yukdo to Double Weekend Sailings to Twice Daily

Gyeonggi Province will increase the number of daily trips of the Seohae Nuriho, the only regular passenger ferry operating between Daebudo, Pungdo, and Yukdo in Ansan City, from once a day to twice a day.

The additional sailings will be implemented from May 2 to October 12, limited to Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays each week. Gyeonggi Province has decided to provide 100 million won to cover the operating expenses required for the increased service.

With this measure, residents of the Seoul metropolitan area can now take a morning ferry from Bangameori Port to visit Pungdo and return in the afternoon, making same-day island trips possible. Residents of Pungdo and Yukdo are also expected to benefit from greatly improved convenience in traveling to the mainland for daily needs such as medical appointments, purchasing necessities, and visiting relatives.

Since December last year, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries has been collaborating with Naver Corp., the Korea Maritime Transportation Safety Authority, and the Korea Shipping Association to provide a "ferry route finder" service on the Naver Map app. There are also plans to link this service with the ticket reservation system in the future, further enhancing user convenience.

Park Jongmin, Director of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Life Sciences of Gyeonggi Province, said, "We expect that the increased sailings of the Seohae Nuriho will improve the quality of life for island residents and enable same-day island trips for metropolitan residents, thereby significantly enhancing access to the Gyeonggi coastline."
