People Power Party's Third Primary Debate
Kim and Han: "Lee Junseok Is a Plus for the Party"
Kim Moonsoo, former Minister of Employment and Labor and a presidential primary candidate for the People Power Party, and Han Donghoon, former party leader, both stated on April 30 that "Lee Junseok, the presidential candidate of the Reform Party, is beneficial to the People Power Party." However, they expressed differing views regarding the timing of unification with Han Ducksoo, the acting president and prime minister.
During the third primary debate for the People Power Party, held at the TV Chosun studio in Jung-gu, Seoul, both candidates raised the 'O' sign in response to the question, "Is candidate Lee Junseok a plus for the People Power Party?"
Former Minister Kim said, "Candidate Lee Junseok is a former leader of our party and a 'Park Geunhye kid.' Although he left and formed another party, we must all unite and build a big tent to stop the dictatorship of Lee Jaemyung. There should be no limits to the big tent."
Former leader Han stated, "No matter whose name was mentioned, I would have raised the 'O' sign. We have an urgent duty to prevent candidate Lee Jaemyung from endangering the world. We must join forces with everyone, and no one can be an exception."
On the other hand, regarding the claim that "unification with acting president Han should take place immediately after the party convention," former Minister Kim agreed, while former leader Han took a reserved stance.
Former Minister Kim emphasized, "The timing for unification discussions should be after our party's candidate is selected. We cannot discuss unification before the selection. If acting president Han runs as an independent, unification must take place."
However, former leader Han held up a neutral sign, indicating a triangle, and responded, "Now is not the time to discuss this." He added, "We must focus on the People Power Party's final primary at this moment. Making unification an issue is disrespectful to party members and does not help us win."
