On April 30, Ansan City announced that it had been selected for the "Medical Welfare Social Contribution Project" organized by Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH), and will provide telemedicine services to medically underserved areas within the city.
As a result of being selected for this project, GH and Ansan City will allocate a total budget of 400 million won to provide high-quality medical services to residents of Daebudo and Pungdo. Korea University Ansan Hospital will offer both in-person and telemedicine services to these areas, in cooperation with the Danwon District Health Center.
For the project, the city has installed equipment necessary for telemedicine, such as blood pressure monitors, pulse meters, and electrocardiogram devices, at the Pungdo Health Clinic. The same equipment is scheduled to be installed at the Daebunam-dong Health Clinic in Daebudo next month. Once the installation is complete, residents of Daebudo and Pungdo will be able to visit their local health clinics and receive telemedicine consultations from Korea University Ansan Hospital medical staff via monitors.
Lee Min-geun, Mayor of Ansan, stated, "Through this project, we will guarantee the right to health for residents in medically underserved areas and improve access to medical care." He added, "We will continue to work with medical institutions to establish a comprehensive medical support system that citizens can truly benefit from."
