On April 30, Ulju County in Ulsan held an opening ceremony for the Guyeong Neighborhood Multipurpose Sports Center, which was constructed in the Guyeongap-gil area of Beomseo-eup, and officially began its operation.
Approximately 300 people attended the opening ceremony, including Ulju County Mayor Lee Soongeol, County Council Chair Choi Gilyoung, National Assembly Member Seo Beomsoo, as well as city and county council members, representatives from the sports association, and local residents. The event featured commemorative speeches, congratulatory remarks, the presentation of plaques of appreciation, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and a tour of the facilities.
The Guyeong Multipurpose Sports Center was completed at the end of last year after about two years of construction, which began in 2022, with a total project cost of 5.82 billion won. The center is equipped with six international-standard badminton courts, a parking lot, and rest areas, providing a comprehensive sports infrastructure for local residents.
The center operates from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends and public holidays. It is closed every Monday, as well as on Lunar New Year's Day, Chuseok, and New Year's Day.
Ulju County has entrusted the operation of the facility to the Ulju County Facilities Management Corporation to ensure more professional and systematic management, thereby improving operational efficiency and enhancing convenience for residents.
Mayor Lee Soongeol stated, "The Guyeong Multipurpose Sports Center will become a new hub that goes beyond a simple sports facility to take responsibility for the health and vitality of local residents," adding, "We will do our utmost not only to promote community sports but also to expand welfare infrastructure."
