Gyeonggi Tourism Organization has become the first regional tourism organization (RTO) to open a local representative office in Bangkok, Thailand, launching an initiative to target the Southeast Asian market.
On April 30, Gyeonggi Tourism Organization announced that it held an opening ceremony for the 'Gyeonggi Tourism Organization Thailand Representative Office' at the Interchange 21 building in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Thailand representative office will serve as the organization's first overseas strategic base, aiming to strengthen local marketing for Gyeonggi tourism and target global tourism markets, including Southeast Asia.
In particular, based on close cooperation with the local travel industry, the office will carry out intensive marketing activities and localization strategies targeting various media outlets, social networking services (SNS), companies, and general consumers. These efforts are intended to raise awareness of tourism in Gyeonggi Province and increase demand for travel to Korea.

Gyeonggi Tourism Organization had originally planned to hold the opening ceremony at the end of March as part of the '2025 The Real Korea, Gyeonggi' project. However, due to damage in Bangkok caused by buildings collapsing as a result of an earthquake in Myanmar, the ceremony was postponed to ensure the safety of participants.
Jo Wonyong, president of Gyeonggi Tourism Organization, stated, "Thailand is a key market that leads trends in Southeast Asia. With the opening of this representative office, we have established a foundation for expanding Gyeonggi tourism throughout Southeast Asia. We will continue to focus on localized promotion and content development so that more tourists from Southeast Asia can visit Gyeonggi Province and experience its attractions."
Meanwhile, last year, the number of tourists visiting Korea from 10 Southeast Asian countries was the third largest after China and Japan.
