This agreement was promoted with the aim of significantly enhancing disaster response capabilities by actively utilizing water from agricultural wells managed by Yeongju City for wildfire suppression, as well as protecting the lives and property of residents in rural areas.
Under the agreement, no additional charges will be imposed for exceeding the rest period for electricity use in agricultural wells during wildfire suppression efforts. In addition, if necessary, power supply will be cut off to prevent the spread of wildfires.
In particular, agricultural wells, which are evenly distributed throughout rural areas, are expected to play a key role in initial suppression and preventing the spread of wildfires in regions where it is difficult to supply firefighting water. By utilizing these wells, firefighting water can be secured more quickly and reliably, which is expected to greatly enhance the effectiveness of wildfire response systems.
Lee Jaehoon, Acting Mayor, stated, "This agreement will serve as an opportunity to secure practical and effective resources for wildfire response," adding, "We will continue to maintain close cooperation with related organizations and prioritize the lives and safety of our citizens in all city administration."
Yeongju City is also strengthening its wildfire prevention and response systems due to the increased risk of wildfires caused by recent dry weather and strong winds, and is enhancing interdepartmental cooperation to ensure an immediate response in case of emergency.
