Damyang County, South Jeolla Province (Governor Jeong Cheolwon), announced on April 30 that it has implemented a project to install automatic diffusion fire extinguishers for distribution panels in homes of vulnerable groups.

This project targeted 48 households of vulnerable groups, including the elderly living alone, people with disabilities, and recipients of basic livelihood security benefits, who are at higher risk of injury in the event of a fire. It also included one alternative school.

The installed automatic diffusion fire extinguishers detect rising temperatures and automatically release fire extinguishing agents when the temperature reaches approximately 70 degrees Celsius. This enables a rapid response in the early stages of a fire and is expected to significantly contribute to improving safety within homes.

Governor Jeong Cheolwon stated, "I find it meaningful that we have established a foundation for proactive response for groups vulnerable to fire," adding, "We will continue to implement various policies to protect the lives and property of our residents."

Meanwhile, starting with this project, the county plans to conduct a comprehensive survey of all households in the jurisdiction and expand the project to replace outdated distribution panels. In addition, the county will provide fire prevention education and conduct regular safety inspections to establish a more robust local safety network.
