Damyang County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Jung Chulwon) began full-scale early rice transplanting on the 30th, starting with the planting of "Daesupmalk Eun Early Rice" at the farm of Kim Deoksu located in Samji-ri, Bongsan-myeon.

The rice planting on this day targets 57 farms across 44 hectares designated as early rice complexes. The county has completed systematic preparations, including early seedling cultivation at the Geumseong Agricultural Cooperative joint nursery. In addition, the county plans to support seedling purchase costs with a subsidy of 23 million won to improve the quality of the new rice and reduce production expenses.

The rice variety being transplanted is "Jomyeong No.1," developed by the Jeonnam Agricultural Research and Extension Services. It is resistant to pests and diseases and is known for its excellent taste, making it suitable for producing high-quality rice. The county expects to produce 240 tons of early rice from the designated complexes this year, generating approximately 500 million won in farm income.

The early-harvested rice will be purchased in its entirety as fresh paddy through the Damyang County Agricultural Cooperative Rice Cooperative Corporation starting in late August. It will be processed into small packages of 4 kg and 10 kg and distributed to markets nationwide.

Governor Jung Chulwon stated, "Daesupmalk Eun Early Rice has established itself as a premium rice brand representing Damyang," and added, "We will spare no administrative support to ensure a stable income base for farmers and to produce high-quality rice."
