Samyang Flour, a subsidiary of Samyang Foods, announced on the 30th that it held a completion ceremony for its refining plant at the Samyang Foods Wonju Campus, located in Usan-dong, Wonju, Gangwon Province.

The Samyang Flour refining plant was built with a total floor area of 1,491 square meters and consists of three above-ground floors, with an investment of 22.2 billion KRW. Through this plant, Samyang Flour will establish a production system capable of producing 45,000 tons of refined oil annually, which will be used for the manufacturing of products such as ramen and snacks.
Samyang Flour has introduced a low-temperature deodorization technology based on a cryogenic vacuum system (DIC) to produce oil with low trans fat at this new plant. In addition, the company has applied advanced oil recovery technology to improve operational efficiency, and has focused on building an eco-friendly smart factory equipped with a fully automated process and energy-saving systems.
With the new refining plant, Samyang Flour will now be able to supply palm oil?a key ingredient directly linked to food quality?internally, thereby further strengthening the safety of its entire production process. The company expects that, by establishing a stable supply infrastructure to meet rapidly increasing domestic and international demand, it will be able to further solidify its position as a global comprehensive food company. In addition, the creation of approximately 30 new jobs is expected to have a positive ripple effect on the local economy.
In his commemorative address, Kim Jungsoo, Vice Chairman of Samyang Foods, stated, "By safely supplying essential ingredients directly through the Samyang Flour refining plant, we are able to further enhance the reliability of our entire production process." He emphasized, "Going forward, the Samyang Foods refining plant will serve as a key foundation not only for strengthening our domestic competitiveness but also for enhancing our global competitiveness, playing a major role in establishing a stable production and supply system."
Meanwhile, Samyang Flour is a specialized milling subsidiary of Samyang Round Square, which was established to ensure a stable supply of flour, the main ingredient in ramen. It was the first in the domestic milling industry to introduce all of its equipment from the world-renowned Swiss manufacturer B?hler Group, and with an annual wheat processing capacity of 80,000 tons, the company directly handles everything from wheat intake to milling.
