From May 1, All Routes to Pass Through Seongdong-gu Office
Two New Routes Added and Existing Routes Adjusted
Seamless Transfers Between Village Buses, City Buses, and Subway
Enhanced Convenience for Public Transportation Users
Seongdong-gu (District Mayor Jeong Won-oh) will begin expanding the operation of the "Seonggong Bus" starting May 1.
The "Seonggong Bus," introduced in October last year, plays a pivotal role in eliminating transportation blind spots by connecting major facilities such as educational, cultural, arts, and sports centers, public libraries, and local community centers. This allows residents to conveniently access essential public facilities within their living area and enhances public transportation accessibility.
According to a survey conducted from January 2 to 19 among 944 users, 87% expressed satisfaction with the operation of the "Seonggong Bus," and 94% indicated their intention to use it again, reflecting high overall satisfaction. The main reasons for use were cost savings (30%), convenience (26%), and reduced travel time (18%). Notably, 73% of respondents wanted the route to pass through Wangsimni Station and additional routes to be introduced to improve access to the Seongdong-gu Office.
In response, the district actively reflected residents' opinions and, through the Route Adjustment Committee on February 25, finalized partial adjustments to Route 1 stops and the addition of two new routes.
In particular, all three "Seonggong Bus" routes have been designed to pass through Seongdong-gu Office (Wangsimni Station), improving convenience for public transportation users by enabling seamless transfers between the Seonggong Bus, village buses, city buses, and the subway.
First, for Route 1, which serves the areas of Geumho-dong, Eungbong-dong, Wangsimni, and Seongsu-dong, the "Sowol Art Hall" stop near the main gate of Sambu Apartment will be removed, and a new stop will be established at Wangsimni Station Square (in front of Exit 4), enhancing access to Seongdong-gu Office, a major public facility in the district.
Between "Seongdong 50 Plus Center (Hanyang University Station)" and "Seongsu Culture and Welfare Center (Ttukseom Station)," a new stop has been added at "Seoul Forest Complex Culture and Sports Center (Seoul Forest I-Park River Foret Complex 1)." As a result, travel time has been significantly reduced for those commuting from Geumho-dong, Eungbong-dong, and Wangsimni, circulating through Seongdonggyo and Seongsu-dong to the terminal stop at "Seoul Forest Complex Culture and Sports Center."
The newly established Route 2 will start and end at Seongdong-gu Yongdap Sports Center, connecting Yongdap-dong and Sageun-dong?areas not served by village buses?with Seongdong-gu Office, and will also pass through the Seongdong-gu Public Health Center.
Route 3 will connect Songjeong-dong and Wangsimni. This route actively reflects the opinions of Songjeong-dong residents near Gwangnaru-ro, who have limited subway access and find it difficult to reach Seongdong-gu Office. The route will start and end at the Songjeong Public Complex Office and circulate through public facilities such as Songjeong Smart Healthcare Center, Songjeong Children's Imagination Center (Seongdong Tax Office), Seongdong-gu Office, and Sowol Art Hall.
Since April 21, the "Seonggong Bus App Service" has also been newly launched. It improves user convenience by simplifying user verification, issuing boarding passes (QR codes), and providing real-time route and bus location information.
The bus designs, created to help distinguish between routes, also incorporate the district's philosophy. Route 1 features the district's symbol, the "Rainbow," expressing the hope for a harmonious life together. Routes 2 and 3 are inspired by the district character "Miso," the district flower "Forsythia," and the color "Green," aiming to bring smiles and a hopeful future to all residents.
Jeong Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, stated, "With the expansion of routes so that all 'Seonggong Buses' pass through Seongdong-gu Office (Wangsimni Station), we expect residents' administrative convenience and public transportation accessibility to improve significantly," adding, "We will continue to further connect the transportation network, ensuring transportation welfare so that every resident's right to mobility is guaranteed."
