Understanding Parent-Child Tendencies with the TCI Test
Group Counseling Held Every Friday for Four Weeks Starting May 9
Evening Group Counseling for Working Mothers Planned for the Second Half of the Year
Yeongdeungpo District (District Mayor Choi Hokwon) announced that it will operate a "Parent Group Counseling Program Using the TCI Test" to help foster healthy relationships between parents and children.
Conflicts between parents and children are common across all generations, and a psychological approach that emphasizes understanding and empathy for each other's tendencies is important. The district will provide professional counseling based on the TCI (Temperament and Character Inventory) test, which assesses temperament and character, to help parents understand both their own and their children's tendencies and to find effective communication methods.
The group counseling program consists of four sessions and will be held every Friday starting May 9 at the Program Room on the 4th floor of the Yeongdeungpo District Public Health Center. Participants will receive feedback from professional counselors tailored to their parenting situations, based on the results of their pre-administered TCI tests.
Each session will cover: recognizing differences in temperament and character; deepening understanding of temperament; deepening understanding of character; and effective communication methods between parents and children. Fifteen participants will share their parenting styles and emotions, and seek ways to improve communication with their children together.
Depending on the results of this program, the district plans to additionally offer an evening group counseling program for working mothers in the second half of the year. For more information, contact the district's Health Promotion Division.
Choi Hokwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, stated, "In order to alleviate conflicts within families, mutual understanding must come first," and added, "We will continue to expand various programs that enable parents and children to communicate together."
