Mapo-gu Partners with Aekyung Industrial and Milal Welfare Foundation to Support Youth Preparing for Independence

On April 28, Mapo-gu (District Mayor Park Kangsu) signed a three-party business agreement in the main conference room of Mapo-gu Office with Aekyung Industrial (CEO Kim Sangjun) and the Milal Welfare Foundation (Chairman Hong Junggil) to promote a "Support Project for Youth Preparing for Independence."

This agreement was established to create a sharing ecosystem jointly led by the public sector, private sector, and corporations, and to help youth preparing for independence in Mapo-gu settle into society stably and achieve genuine self-reliance.

The signing ceremony was attended by Park Kangsu, Mayor of Mapo-gu, Ahn Jungtae, Executive Director of Aekyung Industrial, and Jung Hyungseok, Executive Representative of the Milal Welfare Foundation, who all expressed their commitment to cooperation.

Under this agreement, Mapo-gu will be responsible for identifying and recommending youth preparing for independence who are in need of practical support.

Additionally, Aekyung Industrial will provide daily necessities and cosmetics for three years to Giving Plus, a sharing store established by the Milal Welfare Foundation. The Milal Welfare Foundation will sell the donated items to raise funds and select beneficiaries from among those recommended by Mapo-gu to provide support.

The scale of support for youth preparing for independence is expected to be approximately 105 million won over three years, focusing on individually tailored assistance for items that help with self-reliance, such as living expenses, housing costs, and job training expenses.

Mapo-gu expects that this agreement will provide effective assistance to youth preparing for independence who must stand on their own after leaving child protection facilities or foster care.

Park Kangsu, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, "I hope this agreement will encourage young people to bravely step out into society," adding, "Mapo-gu will continue to pay close attention and make efforts so that youth preparing for independence can grow into reliable members of the local community."
