According to the Democratic Party on April 29, the AI Superpower Committee is scheduled to hold its second plenary meeting at 2:00 p.m. on May 1. This will be the first plenary session since Lee was confirmed as the party's presidential candidate. However, it has been reported that Lee will not attend the meeting.
The AI Superpower Committee is a non-permanent special committee that Lee has continued to chair even after becoming the presidential candidate, having previously held the position as party leader. As such, the committee is expected to play a key role in developing AI-related campaign pledges in the future.
The committee is divided into four subcommittees: AX Innovation, Inclusion, Sovereign, and AX Defense, to enhance its expertise. Each subcommittee plans to devise specific policies through separate meetings.
At the upcoming plenary meeting, the AI Superpower Committee is expected to discuss the division of roles among subcommittees and its operating methods, with plans to report the outcomes to Chairman Lee.
Meanwhile, Lee has shown great interest in AI policy, making his first move after announcing his early presidential bid by visiting Puriosa AI, a fabless AI semiconductor company.
