Busan Regional Employment and Labor Office and Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency Busan Headquarters Hold Shipbuilding Block Site Meeting A meeting to share activities for preventing fatalities in the shipbuilding industry and a safety pledge event.

Over the past five years, there have been 62 fatal accidents in the domestic shipbuilding industry. Of these, 15 fatalities occurred at block production sites, resulting in a fatality rate approximately 3.5 times higher than that of completed shipyards. This underscores the need for special attention and targeted measures.

This event, held under the slogan of the Busan Regional Headquarters, "Reaching Safety, TOGETHER BUSAN," brought together about 40 participants, including Chief Safety Officers (CSOs) from 25 shipbuilding companies specializing in ship block production in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions. The participants discussed on-site safety management measures, shared a common understanding of the value of safety, and pledged to put these values into practice. The Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency emphasized that industrial accidents in the shipbuilding industry are concentrated between April and June. They pledged to raise awareness of the crisis and do their utmost to reduce fatalities at block production sites through focused and selective efforts.
