Nowon District Creates Purple Garden Along Danghyeoncheon

Nowon District (District Mayor Oh Seungrok) announced that it has created the Purple Garden along Danghyeoncheon, a beloved urban walking trail, adding a new attraction for local residents.

The banks of Danghyeoncheon, which runs through the city center, are not only well equipped with walking and cycling paths, but also feature exercise equipment, rest areas, and a musical fountain, making it a popular leisure spot for residents throughout all four seasons.

The newly established Danghyeoncheon Purple Garden showcases a spectacular blend of purple-toned flowers, with English lavender at its core, accompanied by blue sage, lobelia, and delphinium. These species, known for their unique colors and forms that are rarely seen in urban areas, captivate visitors as they stroll along the trail.

Additionally, the garden features various photo zones, including hot air balloon-shaped sculptures, bicycles, and ducks, where visitors can take memorable photos. This unique space, where nature and art coexist, is expected to provide residents with a refreshing break from daily life and serve as an urban travel destination for visitors.

A district official said, "We expect the main flowers in the garden to be in full bloom around mid-May," and added, "If you plan your visit to coincide with the peak bloom, you will be able to enjoy the garden at its most vibrant."

Right next to the Danghyeoncheon Purple Garden, a waterfront space is being developed that combines nature, relaxation, and culture, utilizing the beautiful landscape of the eco-friendly Danghyeoncheon stream. A two-story rest terrace called 'Danghyeonmaru' is being installed to provide views of Bulamsan Mountain, and a riverside cafe is also planned.

In addition, a crescent-shaped curved bridge called 'Dalbit Bridge' and a 'Media Glass' installation, which can display various colors and patterns depending on the season, are also under construction. The district aims to make the scenery of Danghyeoncheon more dynamic and multidimensional through the creation of Danghyeonmaru and the Purple Garden.

Oh Seungrok, Mayor of Nowon District, stated, "Danghyeoncheon is more than just a stream; it is a complex healing space in the city where nature, culture, and relaxation coexist. In particular, this new attraction is a special space that captures colors and moods rarely found in the city, so I hope many people will come and experience it for themselves."
