Suwon Nambu Fire Station Conducts Fire Safety Inspection at Ingye-dong Nonghyup Bank Construction Site

On April 28, as part of its spring fire prevention measures, the Suwon Nambu Fire Station in Gyeonggi Province visited the construction site of the new Nonghyup Bank building in Ingye-dong to inspect fire safety and related matters.

The main focus of the inspection included: ▲ assigning fire safety managers during hot work such as welding and cutting; ▲ notifying construction sites of fire safety guidelines and strengthening safety training for personnel; ▲ providing guidance on the installation of temporary fire facilities at construction sites.

Go Youngju, Chief of Suwon Nambu Fire Station, stated, "The Nonghyup Bank construction site is an underground, integrated complex building connected to Suwon City Hall Station, and in the event of a fire, large-scale casualties could be expected. That is why we conducted this inspection," adding, "Even a small welding spark can lead to a major fire, so we provided on-site personnel with thorough guidance on active safety protocols."

Meanwhile, an analysis of the causes of construction site fires in the province over the past five years showed that 52% were due to welding, cutting, and grinding sparks (carelessness).
