A 'Lifesaver' refers to a person who identifies individuals at high risk of suicide at an early stage and connects them to appropriate support agencies to protect their lives. This training was organized to raise employees' awareness of the importance of respecting life and to strengthen their ability to detect and support high-risk individuals at an early stage.

The training was led by three expert instructors from the Korea Foundation for Suicide Prevention and Hope, affiliated with the Uijeongbu City Suicide Prevention Center. The instructors covered practical content for suicide prevention, including how to recognize warning signs of suicide risk, initial response procedures in crisis situations, and the process for connecting individuals to professional agencies.

Approximately 300 city hall employees attended the training, where they systematically learned about the importance of the value of life and practical measures for suicide prevention, laying the groundwork for fulfilling their roles as Lifesavers.

Uijeongbu City plans to continue training Lifesavers and providing suicide prevention education each year, utilizing both in-person and online formats. Through these efforts, the city aims to foster a public service culture that values life and to continuously strengthen the capabilities of Lifesavers.

Mayor Donggeun Kim stated, "Protecting the life of every single citizen is the city's top priority," and added, "We will continue to focus our administrative capabilities to ensure that a culture of respect for life takes deep root throughout the community."
