Fines Imposed on Eight Violating Operators
Jeollanam-do has decided to impose fines on solar power operators who failed to comply with output control orders, following the decision of the Electricity Committee under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. This decision by the Electricity Committee is based on the findings of the Electricity Market Surveillance Committee's investigation.
Previously, the Electricity Market Surveillance Committee reported the results of its investigation into eight solar power operators in Jeollanam-do who violated the Korea Power Exchange's output control orders to the Electricity Committee in March, and the Electricity Committee subsequently notified Jeollanam-do of these findings.
Jeollanam-do plans to impose fines after conducting fact-finding investigations and explanatory procedures in accordance with relevant laws and the detailed standards set by the Electricity Committee for fines.
Kang Sanggu, Director of the Energy Industry Bureau of Jeollanam-do, stated, "We plan to promote compliance with the Korea Power Exchange's output control orders among relevant organizations to ensure stable grid operation," and urged, "We hope that power operators in Jeollanam-do will faithfully comply with the Korea Power Exchange's output control orders to avoid monetary penalties."
Jeollanam-do is making continuous proposals to include four 345kV-class substations in the region and to establish an energy highway connecting to the Seoul metropolitan area in the 11th Long-term Transmission and Transformation Facility Plan, in order to minimize output control. The province is also making every effort to stabilize the power supply by attracting high electricity-consuming companies such as data centers, which are part of future advanced industries for local production and consumption.
