Honam University's Department of Companion Animal Industry announced on the 29th that it held a special lecture in collaboration with the Global Digital Innovation Network (GDIN) under the theme "Successful Startups by Senior Entrepreneurs in the Companion Animal Industry and Strategies for Entering the Pet-Tech Market."


This special lecture, held on the 28th at the IT Square Auditorium of Honam University, was organized to provide students preparing to start businesses in the rapidly growing companion animal industry and pet-tech sector with practical, field-oriented guidance and real-world case studies.


The first speaker, Park Yangse, is a global expert in the companion animal industry who founded Neomation Co., Ltd., a company specializing in companion animal funeral services, and has led the advancement of Korea's companion animal funeral culture. In particular, he has attracted significant attention in the pet food market by successfully launching the customized cooked food brand "Another Baby."


Park analyzed the latest trends in companion animal funeral services and presented customized service strategies tailored to the detailed needs of consumers, which prompted many questions from the audience. He also shared practical startup know-how by discussing the challenges faced during the initial market entry stage of a brand and providing specific methods for overcoming them.


The second special lecture was delivered by Jang Gieop, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Metadx Co., Ltd., a company specializing in biometric information analysis. Metadx has been attracting attention in the veterinary field by developing innovative AI-based diagnostic technologies for the pet healthcare market.


Jang analyzed the latest trends and potential of the pet healthcare market, explained specific applications of biometric analysis technology and AI-based diagnostic solutions, and shared real-life examples related to financial management, investment attraction strategies, and building sustainable business models encountered during the startup process.


Department Head Lee Munyoung stated, "It was a valuable opportunity for students to learn from vivid real-life startup cases and field experience," and added, "We will expand field-oriented education to foster entrepreneurial talent with practical capabilities."


GDIN Program Lead Song Hana also commented, "Through this collaboration, we will introduce various programs that combine digital innovation and the companion animal industry," and added, "We will support students in developing practical skills and strengthening their competitiveness in the job market."
