Separate Rest Area Provided for Female Transportation Workers
The Yongin Public Bus Terminal, located in Gimnyangjang-dong, Cheoin-gu, Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province, has begun operations after completing a reconstruction project that lasted two years and eight months.
On April 29, Yongin City announced that the Yongin Public Bus Terminal, constructed at 529 Gimnyangjang-dong, officially opened its bus routes following an opening ceremony held on the 28th.

The terminal's reconstruction was initiated after the original terminal, built in 1994, received a safety rating of "E" due to aging. The city began construction of the new terminal in August 2022 with a budget of 17.5 billion KRW. After temporary operations began in November last year, the terminal was completed in February of this year.
The terminal has a total floor area of 2,881 square meters, spanning one basement level and two above-ground floors. To ensure efficient management and operation, the city selected Gyeongnam Passenger Transport as the private operator through an open recruitment process in December last year.
The terminal is equipped with a ticket office, waiting lounge, transportation business offices, rest areas for transportation workers, and a restaurant. Notably, a separate rest facility for female transportation workers has been provided, drawing attention. This rest area for female staff was established after Mayor Lee Sangil suggested it to Gyeongnam Passenger Transport during a facility inspection in November last year.
The exterior design is also distinctive. To create a pleasant indoor environment, the terminal was designed with a mezzanine structure. The facade features full-length glass windows to enhance connectivity with the outside, and an external canopy was installed. The city also equipped the terminal with charging facilities for electric buses.
About 100 people, including Mayor Lee, city council members, and local residents, attended the opening ceremony. At the event, Mayor Lee presented the "Yongin Mayor's Award" to three individuals who contributed to the construction project.
Mayor Lee stated, "The Yongin Public Bus Terminal is the best-equipped bus terminal in the country and will provide the highest level of service to citizens," adding, "I ask Gyeongnam Passenger Transport and all transportation workers to do their utmost in facility management and bus operations so that many citizens can use the terminal safely and conveniently."
The terminal offers intercity buses, express buses connecting major regions in Yeongnam and Honam, airport buses to Incheon and Gimpo airports, as well as major city bus routes in Yongin. Detailed route information can be found on the Yongin Public Bus Terminal website.
