Natali Komenko shared a video on Instagram on April 26, recounting her shocking experience at a hotel in Tokyo, Japan. In the video, Natali explained, "I decided to travel to Japan because I thought it was a safe country," and added, "I booked a room at a famous Japanese hotel chain in Tokyo through a reservation website."

Natali said, "Nothing unusual happened on the first day," but added, "The incident occurred the next day when I returned to the hotel around 7:30 p.m. after sightseeing." She recalled, "I was lying on the bed to rest when I started to notice a strange smell," and continued, "At first, I thought it was the smell of my own hair or something coming from the bed sheets."

However, when Natali checked under the bed to find the source of the smell, she screamed and jumped up in shock. She made eye contact with an Asian man hiding under the bed. The man had broken into Natali's room and was secretly hiding there. According to Natali, the man immediately crawled out from under the bed, stared at her for three seconds, and then ran away. Natali recalled, "In that moment, I thought my life was over."

Afterwards, Natali informed the hotel of the incident, and the hotel reported it to the police. The police found a portable charger and a USB cable under Natali's bed. Natali repeatedly asked the hotel staff, "How could something like this happen?" but claimed she received no response. The hotel only told her that there were no closed-circuit (CC) TV cameras outside her room, making it difficult for the police to catch the intruder. Natali eventually decided to move to another hotel and requested a refund for her stay. The hotel refunded her the full amount she had paid.

Natali expressed strong dissatisfaction with the hotel's response to the incident. She claimed that the hotel handled the situation passively, failing to properly inform her about follow-up measures. Natali, who said she suffered from anxiety for the remainder of her trip, demanded $1,600 (about 2.3 million won) in compensation for emotional distress, but the hotel refused, citing company policy.

In conclusion, Natali advised, "Always check your room." Online commenters who read Natali's story responded, "It's impossible that there are no CCTV cameras near the hotel rooms," "Since hotel staff have key cards to open the doors, the suspect must be an employee," "It seems like the hotel is trying to cover up the incident," "How could something like this happen at a famous chain hotel?" "Now I'm scared to go to Japan," and "This is truly creepy."
