Skonec Launches Public XR Market Strategy with Comprehensive Organizational and Articles of Incorporation Overhaul

Skonec Launches Public XR Market Strategy with Comprehensive Organizational and Articles of Incorporation Overhaul

Skonec, a company specializing in XR (extended reality)-based immersive content, announced on the 29th that it has expanded its XR technology touchpoints to secure new growth engines and strengthen organizational capabilities for future growth. The company has implemented several measures, including amending its articles of incorporation to pursue new business areas, appointing a new outside director, and restructuring its organization to enhance management efficiency.

Through the recent amendment of its articles of incorporation, Skonec plans to move beyond its existing focus on XR content development and expand into new areas such as smart city solutions, digital twins, intelligent urban safety systems, and supplying XR simulators to public institutions. With this strategy, the company aims to significantly strengthen its presence in the public and local government B2G market.

A company representative explained, "As government and local government-led digital transformation policies are gaining momentum, Skonec's XR technology can be utilized in a variety of ways at the local government level. By amending our articles of incorporation, we are establishing an institutional foundation to support this expansion."

At the upcoming extraordinary general meeting, Kwak Sangwook, the former mayor who will be newly appointed as an outside director, previously served as the 5th, 6th, and 7th mayor of Osan (2010-2022) and as vice chairman of the Policy Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea. During his three consecutive terms, he focused on introducing smart city, edutech, and XR-based administrative services. He is expected to play a key role in strengthening Skonec's strategic collaboration in the B2G market targeting local governments.

In particular, former Mayor Kwak has experience leading the establishment of a metaverse education city in Osan, making him well-positioned to provide practical consulting and connections for Skonec's 'XR Administrative Platform' development project, which will combine the company's technology with public administration.

At this extraordinary general meeting, Skonec also plans to complete the integration of its in-house research and development (R&D) functions. The company will finalize organizational restructuring to systematize its strategies for external technology cooperation and IP acquisition. Through these efforts, Skonec aims to respond quickly to rapidly changing global XR industry trends and further advance its proprietary technological capabilities.

The company stated, "This extraordinary general meeting will be a turning point for Skonec as it prepares for the future. By appointing a new outside director and entering new business areas, we will maximize the company's growth potential and reestablish ourselves as a leading immersive content platform provider serving both the public and private sectors."
