Jinju City Conducts Final Inspection of Venue for 64th Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Sports Festival Opening Ceremony

Preparations in Full Swing for a Grand Opening Ceremony
with a Variety of Side Events

Jinju City in Gyeongsangnam-do announced on April 29 that it had conducted a final inspection of the stage and other areas of the venue ahead of the opening ceremony for the 64th Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Sports Festival, which will be held on May 2.


Since the opening ceremony, scheduled for May 2, is expected to attract the largest crowd during the 64th Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Sports Festival, which runs from May 2 to May 5, the city focused its inspection on safety and traffic management measures. The inspection also included a thorough review of the stage installation for the opening ceremony and the status of promotional and experience booths.


Mayor Kyoil Cho stated, "As this is the first time in seven years that our city is hosting the festival again, we will prepare not only for each sporting event but also for the opening ceremony as a special event that reflects Jinju's unique characteristics." He added, "We will prioritize safety and pay close attention to every detail to ensure the festival is both safe and moving."

Meanwhile, the opening ceremony for the 64th Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Sports Festival will take place on May 2, starting at 6:00 p.m. with a pre-ceremony performance, followed by the official ceremony and post-ceremony events.


After performances by four teams, including the Air Force Honor Guard and Jinju Samcheonpo Nongak, and the changing of the guards, the official ceremony will proceed with the parade of athletes, welcome address, opening remarks, encouragement speeches and congratulatory remarks, oath by the athlete and referee representatives, awards for best parade, and the main themed performance.


In particular, the themed performance will feature a spectacular drone show highlighting Jinju's history and culture. The post-ceremony event will include celebratory performances by top Korean singers such as Byul Sarang, Oh Yujin, My Jin, Shin Seungtae, and Dynamic Duo.


Additionally, outside the main stadium, there will be a variety of attractions for visitors, including an aerospace promotion center, photo zones featuring silk and the 2025 Invitational Jinju International Women's Volleyball Tournament, as well as 16 promotional and experience booths such as a park golf experience center and a Jinju City tourism promotion center.
