The Day Great Master Sotaesan Park Jungbin Attained Enlightenment
The celebration ceremony for Daegak Gae Gyojeol (Great Enlightenment and Founding Day), commemorating the enlightenment of Great Master Sotaesan Park Jungbin and the founding of the Won Buddhism order, was held simultaneously at over 1,000 temples and institutions both in Korea and abroad.

According to Won Buddhism, Supreme Dharma Master Wangsan Seongdojong delivered a Dharma talk at the ceremony held at the Won Buddhism Central Headquarters in Iksan, Jeonbuk, stating, "In order to live truly freely and happily, the mind?not material things?must be the master."
He further explained, "Spiritual reformation means not being swayed by material things, but leading one's own life independently. Illuminating the mind through enlightenment, restoring the sovereignty of the spirit, and living as the true master of the world is the path of 'spiritual reformation.'"
The congratulatory address from Acting President Han Ducksoo was read by Jang Miran, the Second Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Acting President Han stated, "I hope that Won Buddhism, which has practiced sharing and generosity throughout its 110-year history, will continue to illuminate the world for the better," and added, "The government will stand with the vulnerable in the most humble places and listen to the voice of every single citizen."
Congratulatory messages from leaders of other religions followed. Jinwoo, Chief Executive Director of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism and Chairperson of the Korean Conference of Religions for Peace, as well as Park Injune, Spiritual Leader of Cheondogyo, sent congratulatory video messages. From the political sphere, Park Chandae, Acting Leader and Floor Leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, Kim Sunmin, Acting Leader of the Rebuilding Korea Party, and Na Kyungwon, a member of the People Power Party, sent congratulatory messages.
In addition, Kim Kwanyoung, Governor of Jeonbuk, Seo Geoseok, Superintendent of Education of Jeonbuk, and lawmakers Han Byungdo, Lee Choonseok, Seo Wangjin, Lee Yongseon, Jeong Eulho, and Baek Seungah, as well as several other political and government figures, attended the event. Kim Hye-kyung, spouse of Lee Jaemyung, who was selected as the Democratic Party's presidential candidate, was also present.
