Seeking Coffee Industry Revitalization Strategies On-Site... BJFEZ Holds 2nd Task Force Meeting

On-Site Strategies to Foster the Coffee Industry Ecosystem
Listening to Industry Voices and Discussing Concrete Measures at the Task Force Meeting

The Busanjin-Hae Economic Free Zone Authority (Commissioner Park Sungho) held the "2nd Coffee Industry Revitalization Strategy Task Force Meeting" on April 28 at Momos Coffee and the Busan Coffee R&D LAB in Yeongdo-gu, Busan.

The Authority explained that, following the kickoff meeting in March, this event was organized to listen to practical opinions from the coffee industry and to discuss concrete measures for building the industry ecosystem.

Before the meeting, participants toured the Momos Coffee roastery facilities guided by barista Jeon Juyeon, the first Korean to win the World Barista Championship (WBC). The attendees observed the coffee roasting and processing procedures and exchanged views on challenges faced on-site.

During the meeting, participants discussed identifying and improving regulations that hinder the development of the coffee industry. There was a focused discussion on the potential use of the "Seokon Smart Joint Logistics Center," currently under construction in the hinterland of Busan New Port. This center is scheduled for completion in October 2027 and aims to support the competitiveness of small and medium-sized logistics and cargo companies through joint logistics and fulfillment services.

Commissioner Park Sungho emphasized, "The Busanjin-Hae Economic Free Zone has the potential to grow beyond a simple import base and become the center of the Asian coffee industry. We will accelerate the revitalization of the coffee industry ecosystem by reflecting on-site feedback in our policies, innovating regulations, and expanding infrastructure."
