Chungnam Office of Education Recognizes Contributions
to Promoting the Spirit of Admiral Yi Sunshin

The Chungnam Provincial Office of Education held the 4th Yi Sunshin Award ceremony at 1:00 p.m. on the 28th in the reception room of the provincial office of education.
At the ceremony, Jinshul Jung, a graduate of the Korea Naval Academy and a widely recognized expert on Yi Sunshin, was selected as the recipient and received the 4th Yi Sunshin Award.
The Yi Sunshin Award, which was introduced in 2021 and is now in its fourth year, honors the spirit of patriotism and devotion to the people embodied by Admiral Yi Sunshin. It is awarded on a national scale to individuals or organizations who have contributed to the advancement of youth education.
Jinshul Jung is an expert on Yi Sunshin who has been active in various fields, including the creation of the Baegui Jongun-gil (White Robe March Route) and research on the Geobukseon (Turtle Ship). He graduated from the Korea Naval Academy, served as an instructor there, and has worked as a member of the editorial board for the History of Korean Maritime Affairs, taking a leading role in spreading Admiral Yi Sunshin's spirit.
In particular, he was recognized for his contributions to promoting Admiral Yi Sunshin's spirit through active educational, lecturing, and writing activities targeting youth, citizens, and military personnel.
Kim Ji-cheol, Superintendent of Education for Chungnam, stated, "Admiral Yi Sunshin was a true leader who practiced genuine leadership based on patriotism and devotion to the people," and added, "The Chungnam Provincial Office of Education will take the lead in helping young people, who are the protagonists of the future, learn and practice Admiral Yi Sunshin's spirit."
