Practicing Customized Sharing for Senior Citizens
Over 400 Volunteers from 32 Talent Groups Participate
Posco Gwangyang Steelworks (headed by Ko Jae-yoon) took the lead in practicing community sharing by conducting a large-scale special talent volunteer activity in the area around the Kumho-dong Community Center in Gwangyang City on April 26, ahead of Family Month in May.
Gwangyang Steelworks, which practices Posco's unique culture of "volunteering and sharing" through regular joint volunteer activities every year, organized a customized joint volunteer event for senior citizens with the theme of "filial piety" in anticipation of Family Month in May.

This joint volunteer activity brought together 32 talent volunteer groups under Gwangyang Steelworks, each focusing on the participants' areas of expertise, as well as about 400 volunteers including staff from Gwangyang City Hall and the Kumho-dong Office. In addition, lawmaker Kwon Hyangyeop, Gwangyang Mayor Jung Inhwa, and Gwangyang Steelworks Director Ko Jaeyoon also participated in sharing happiness.
The volunteer activities were divided into three themes: improvement of living conditions, cultural experiences, and health. For the living conditions theme, the Wallpaper Volunteer Group, Dustproof Screen Volunteer Group, Laundry Volunteer Group, and Electrical Volunteer Group visited households in need and addressed daily inconveniences that are difficult for seniors to resolve on their own, such as wallpapering, replacing dustproof and insect screens, washing bedding, and repairing electrical issues.
Volunteer groups focusing on cultural experiences also attracted attention. The Beauty Volunteer Group, Nail Art Volunteer Group, Glass Craft Volunteer Group, and Photography Volunteer Group provided services such as beauty care, nail art, glass craft experiences, and portrait photography, bringing smiles to the faces of the elderly.
In addition, the Medical Volunteer Group, Foot Massage Volunteer Group, and First Aid Volunteer Group carried out activities to promote residents' health, including health checkups, foot massage services, and first aid education.
In particular, since this volunteer activity was held under the theme of filial piety, the community center offered carnations as gifts to the elderly in celebration of Family Month, making the event even more special.
One elderly resident of Kumho-dong said, "I came after hearing that a special volunteer activity was being held for us in celebration of Family Month," and expressed gratitude to the Gwangyang Steelworks volunteers for providing practical help and happiness through a variety of volunteer services.
Ko Jaeyoon, Director of Gwangyang Steelworks, stated, "Since this volunteer activity was dedicated to the elderly residents of Kumho-dong, where Gwangyang Steelworks is located, I believe it was a meaningful event that embodied the values of companionship and mutual growth. Going forward, Gwangyang Steelworks will continue to carry out various social contribution activities to grow together with the local community."
