Deemed "Suitable" After Re-examination Following Conditional Approval Last October
The Cheonan Jeil High School Complex Facility Construction Project, jointly promoted by Cheonan City and the Cheonan Office of Education, has passed the final joint investment review by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
According to the Office of Education on April 28, this project had received conditional approval at the joint investment review in October last year, on the condition that measures be established to ensure student safety, such as separating usage times for students and local residents. After supplementing the specific implementation plan, the project received a "suitable" judgment in the re-examination.
The school complex facility project involves the construction of a sports and cultural complex center with a total floor area of approximately 6,417 square meters and an ecological park covering 13,045 square meters on the Cheonan Jeil High School site (19,318 square meters).
The Office of Education and the city have begun full-scale preparations for design and groundbreaking, with plans to start construction in the first half of next year and open the facility in July 2028.
Lee Byungdo, Superintendent of Education, stated, "Having passed this important milestone, we will strengthen cooperation with Cheonan City to create a complex space that will satisfy both students and citizens."
Kim Seokpil, Acting Mayor of Cheonan, said, "By creating a healing park and a sports and cultural complex facility representing the original downtown area, we will provide citizens with a lifelong cultural and sports learning space, and students with a place for physical development and ecological learning."
