The police announced on April 28 that they have launched an investigation into the complaint filed regarding the nomination of a Constitutional Court justice candidate by Han Ducksoo, Acting President and Prime Minister, and are considering requesting materials from the National Assembly as part of the investigation.
At a regular press briefing that day, a police official stated, "We received the related complaint on April 10, and the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Anti-Corruption Investigation Unit is currently conducting the necessary investigation procedures, such as analyzing relevant materials. At this stage, we are considering requesting materials from the National Assembly."
Regarding the possibility of summoning Acting President Han, the police said, "We will check the materials and conduct the investigation according to principles. At this stage, it is not appropriate to say whether we will or will not conduct a summons investigation."
On the voluntary submission of materials by the Presidential Security Service, the police stated, "We are still in discussions because there are items we have not yet received, including the secure phone server. We have received and are reviewing some of the necessary materials."
Regarding the investigation into former President Yoon Sukyeol on charges of obstruction of special official duties, the police said, "First, we need to receive and analyze the materials through voluntary submission."
Regarding former Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sangmin, the police stated, "We are conducting a reference witness investigation while also reviewing the legal principles."
