Integration of Existing Programs
Nationwide Expansion of Beneficiaries Starting This Year
Shinhan Financial Hope Foundation announced on April 28 that it will expand and integrate its support programs for families in crisis.
The foundation aims to provide more specialized support for families in welfare blind spots by integrating existing programs and accepting referrals from social workers and police officers.
Starting this year, the foundation will expand the scope of support with a total budget of 5 billion KRW. In addition to the National Police Agency and comprehensive social welfare centers, relevant institutions nationwide?including local children's centers, youth counseling and welfare centers, and foster care support centers?are also eligible to apply.
Shinhan Financial Hope Foundation will select a total of 3,400 vulnerable households nationwide, as recommended by these organizations, and provide support of up to 3 million KRW per person for living expenses, medical care, education, and housing. In cases where ongoing support is required, additional assistance may be provided once after internal review.
The first round of applications begins today and runs until May 15, with a total of five rounds of applications to be held sequentially each month through September.
A representative from Shinhan Financial Hope Foundation stated, "This project focuses on encouraging the stable recovery of daily life for families in crisis across the country by providing broader and more specialized support to those in need. We will further expand the value of mutual growth by working closely with social workers and police officers to provide more detailed support from the perspective of the beneficiaries."
Meanwhile, since 2023, Shinhan Financial Hope Foundation has supported a total of 3,899 households with approximately 5.9 billion KRW through the "Social Worker-Police Officer Linked Case Management Support Project."
