Science Museum Immersed in Flowers... Spring Night Festival for Adults

Flower Dining, Talk Concert, and More Programs at the Gwangju Science Museum's 'Science Night Festival 19+'

The National Gwangju Science Museum held the 11th 'Science Night Festival 19+' on April 25, 2025, an event designed for adults to experience science culture. This year's event was themed "When Spring Blossoms Come," adding spring flowers to the meeting point of science and everyday life.

'Science Night Festival 19+' is the museum's flagship program, created to help adults easily engage with science culture in their daily lives. Each event is organized around a different theme; this time, the focus was on "flowers."

With flower decorations placed throughout the venue, the event began with a flower dining experience accompanied by a performance from the band Hwaryeo. This was followed by a talk concert featuring Professor Lee Youngha from the Department of Biological Sciences at Seoul National University and host Heo Jaemu, who shared stories about "spring flowers that resemble our lives."

Participants created their own bouquets in a flower class and sampled floral teas through a flower tea sommelier program. On-site events included selecting the best-dressed participant and awarding souvenirs for photos taken with flowers.

One attendee said, "I was satisfied to have such a unique experience at the science museum," adding, "I hope there will be more programs for adults."

Researcher Han Sumin stated, "It is meaningful that our first event with a flower theme concluded successfully," and added, "We will continue to provide opportunities to enjoy science culture with a variety of themes."

'Science Night Festival 19+' is breaking the perception that science museums are only for children, providing adults with opportunities to experience science and culture. The event has steadily gained popularity since last year.
