Anonymous Elderly Donor
Provides 15 Million Won for
Homeless Meal Expenses in Busan
No one knows the identity of the person who generously donated 15 million won to cover meal expenses for the homeless.
On April 28, the Busan Metropolitan Government (Mayor Park Hyungjun) announced that on April 25, an anonymous elderly individual donated funds to help the homeless in the Busan area.
The public official in charge explained that, despite his advanced age, the elderly man personally visited the city's Social Welfare Bureau to deliver the donation in cash, which was then processed through the Busan Community Chest of Korea.
The elderly donor decided to give out of concern and compassion for vulnerable groups in the local community and wished to keep his identity undisclosed.
This individual also donated 10 million won in 2022 for the same purpose and is known to have consistently engaged in other acts of sharing. The donation delivered this time will be used to support food expenses and similar needs at facilities for the homeless in the city.
Jung Taegi, Director of the Busan Social Welfare Bureau, stated, "The spirit of sharing demonstrated by this elderly person, who has devoted himself as a member of society, will resonate deeply not only with us but also with future generations."
He added, "This donation will serve as an opportunity to raise awareness about the homeless and other vulnerable groups, and we expect it will greatly contribute to the stability and welfare of the homeless. We will continue to work to spread a culture of sharing and to discover welfare resources in cooperation with the private sector."
