Integrated Management of Operational Safety and Emission/Noise Standards

Daejeon to Implement Motorcycle Safety Inspection System Starting April 28

The Daejeon city government announced that it will officially implement the motorcycle safety inspection system starting April 28, 2025.

This initiative aims to ensure the operational safety of motorcycles and reduce environmental pollution simultaneously, and is being implemented in accordance with the revision of relevant regulations.

The newly introduced system integrates existing environmental inspections for emissions, noise, and vibration with safety inspection items into a comprehensive inspection framework. The scope of inspection, frequency, and procedures will be managed according to a joint ministerial ordinance.

The main components include: ▲motorcycle usage inspection ▲regular inspection ▲tuning inspection ▲temporary inspection ▲designation of certified motorcycle maintenance businesses.

The city expects that this system will help prevent accidents and environmental pollution caused by structural defects or poor maintenance of motorcycles in advance.

Nam Sideok, Director of the Daejeon City Transportation Bureau, stated, "At a time when inadequate motorcycle maintenance is emerging as a social issue, ensuring operational safety can no longer be delayed," and added, "We will do our utmost in vehicle management tasks to ensure that the safety inspection system is stably established in the field."
