People Power Party Candidates Receive 10.5% to 23.3% Support Confirmed

Lee Jaemyung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, was found to have received over 50% support in a hypothetical three-way poll. This result comes from a poll simulating head-to-head matchups between Lee Jaemyung and each of the four main presidential contenders from the People Power Party, as well as Lee Junseok, the presidential candidate of the Reform Party.

According to a poll released by Realmeter on April 28 (commissioned by Energy Economy News, conducted from April 23 to 25 among 1,505 people nationwide aged 18 and older, using a 100% wireless automated response system, with a margin of error of ±2.5 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, and a response rate of 7.3%), Lee Jaemyung received between 50.7% and 51.9% support in hypothetical matchups against one of the People Power Party’s preliminary candidates and Lee Junseok.

Among the People Power Party’s preliminary candidates, former Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moonsoo received 23.3% support, making him the most competitive among his peers. He was followed by former Daegu Mayor Hong Joonpyo with 21.9%, former People Power Party leader Han Donghoon with 16.8%, and lawmaker Ahn Cheolsoo with 10.5%. Lee Junseok received between 6.6% and 7.8% support.

In a separate poll measuring presidential candidate preference by presenting both ruling and opposition party contenders and asking for support, Lee Jaemyung received 48.5%. This is a decrease of 1.7 percentage points compared to last week. Kim Moonsoo received 13.4%, Hong Joonpyo 10.2%, Han Donghoon 9.7%, Lee Junseok 4.4%, and Ahn Cheolsoo 2.5%.

In a survey on the suitability of People Power Party presidential candidates among all respondents, Kim Moonsoo received 19.7%, Han Donghoon 17.4%, Hong Joonpyo 15.1%, and Ahn Cheolsoo 11.8%. However, when the poll was limited to unaffiliated voters and People Power Party supporters?a method used in the party’s primary?Kim Moonsoo received 32.7%, Han Donghoon 23.0%, Hong Joonpyo 22.7%, and Ahn Cheolsoo 6.5%.

Regarding party support, the Democratic Party was found to have 46.8%, a decrease of 1.9 percentage points from last week. The People Power Party rose by 1.7 percentage points to 34.6%. The Reform Party increased by 1.0 percentage point to 3.9%.
