Honam University announced on the 27th that students from its Department of Culinary Arts recently won the President Award of aT (Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation) in the student division at the live competition of the "2025 Korea Traditional Food Grand Exhibition" hosted by the Korea Traditional Food Federation.


The traditional food exhibition, held on April 26 at Namsangol Hanok Village on Toegye-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul, was themed "Stories of Two Cities' Cuisine from the South and North - Jeonju and Pyongyang." For this competition, students from the Department of Culinary Arts at Honam University formed a team called "Honam Jeontongin," led by Kim Yekang as team leader, with Kim Baul, Kim Youngjin, and Kim Minseong as members.


The students presented a total of 17 traditional dishes, including Jeonjugoldongban, Pyongyanggoldongban, Gaemangcho pickles, Aewook pickles, Gaeseongjuak, Jindallaehwajeon, Ssukdasik, Kongdasik, Sujeonggwa, Jeonjumoju, Soybean sprout soup, Tojang soup, Kumquat jeonggwa, Tteokgalbi, Baekkimchi, Hwangtae gochujang, and Bugeopo muchim, receiving high praise from the panel of judges.


At the competition, Professor Lee Sunho from the Department of Culinary Arts served as the general supervisor of the team; Professor Kim Seongsu provided guidance on plating and storytelling; and doctoral student Jo Jihyun assisted with menu composition, all contributing to the students' achievement.
