On April 27, Incheon International Airport Corporation announced that it is recruiting participants for its social contribution program, the "Multicultural Family Parent Invitation Support Project," which aims to support the early settlement of multicultural families in Korea.
This project, now in its second year following last year's inaugural event, is a social contribution initiative that invites the parents of marriage immigrants who have been unable to visit their hometowns for economic or personal reasons, offering them opportunities to experience Korean culture and visit their families.
Last year, the corporation invited the parents of 24 families residing in Incheon from countries such as Vietnam, China, the Philippines, Thailand, and Cambodia for a two-week stay. This year, the project will expand both the number of families and the duration, inviting 30 families living in Incheon and Gyeonggi Province for a three-week program.
The application period runs until midnight on May 25. Any marriage immigrant who has resided in Korea for more than three years and is registered as a resident of Incheon or Gyeonggi Province is eligible to apply. Those wishing to participate can complete and submit an application form via the QR code on the information poster. The application can be written in Korean, Vietnamese, Khmer, Thai, or Tagalog.
For more detailed information regarding participant recruitment, applicants should contact Copion, the organizing non-profit corporation. After the application deadline, the corporation will conduct a document review and individual interviews, and plans to announce the selection of 30 families by the end of June.
Following approximately four months of preparation, the corporation plans to invite the parents of the selected families to Korea for three weeks in October. Participants will take part in group activities such as welcome ceremonies and cultural tours, as well as individual schedules with their families.
Lee Hakjae, President of Incheon International Airport Corporation, stated, "We hope that this project will provide even a small amount of support for multicultural families to settle in Korean society and foster a sense of belonging. Moving forward, we will actively implement government policies to address population issues such as low birth rates and multiculturalism, and fulfill our social responsibilities as a public corporation."
