'Have a Git Day' Workshop Held
Sharing Latest Technology Trends and GitHub Collaboration Experiences
Introducing How to Use GitHub AI Coding Assistant Tools
KT announced on the 27th that, following the signing of a strategic partnership with GitHub, it held a developer workshop titled "Have a Git Day" on the 25th at the KT Pangyo office. GitHub is a developer platform for sharing and collaborating on open-source program source code, and was acquired by Microsoft in 2019.
"Have a Git Day" is an event where KT invites developers and IT professionals to share the latest technology trends and collaboration methods using GitHub. Currently, there are more than 2.2 million GitHub developers active in Korea, but there are not many cases where companies have officially adopted GitHub's artificial intelligence (AI) features at the organizational level.

Since 2024, KT has been utilizing GitHub in its development operations. The company explained that it has reduced employees' workloads by using "GitHub Enterprise," a software development and collaboration platform, and "GitHub Copilot," an AI coding assistant.
During the workshop, employees from KT's IT Dev Division under the Technology Innovation Division presented improvement cases, such as reducing the time required to organize the software development process by using the automation tool "GitHub Actions." At the same time, they provided practical, work-focused IT know-how that other companies could reference.
In the next session, a senior specialist from Microsoft presented coding methods that utilize the AI features built into GitHub Copilot under the theme "Enjoyable Development with AI: Mastering GitHub Copilot." GitHub Copilot is an AI-based tool that auto-completes programming code, and was developed by Microsoft based on OpenAI's model.
Meanwhile, KT signed a strategic partnership with GitHub last month. The signing ceremony was attended by Seungpil Oh, Executive Vice President and Head of KT Technology Innovation Division, and Thomas Domke, CEO of GitHub. According to the agreement, the two companies pledged mutual cooperation as strategic partners in areas such as technology development and market entry, joint marketing, and solution development.
Seungrok Jeon, Head of GTM Division at KT's Strategy and Business Consulting Division, stated, "As an AICT company, KT can proactively introduce and validate the latest AI technologies internally, and based on this experience, support optimal, customized AI transformation (AX) for each customer." He added, "Through this strategic partnership with GitHub and 'Have a Git Day,' we will take the lead in enabling Korean developers to drive innovation at the forefront of AI."
