Guro District Launches On-site Infectious Disease Prevention and Handwashing Education for Children

Guro District (District Mayor Jang Inhong) is conducting an "On-site Infectious Disease Prevention and Handwashing Education" program for children aged 4 to 5 at daycare centers from April to May.

The infectious disease prevention and handwashing education program is designed to help children, who are particularly vulnerable to the spread of infectious diseases, develop healthy daily habits to prevent infection.

For the first half of this year, an epidemiological investigator from the Guro District Health Center will serve as the instructor, personally visiting 16 daycare centers that have applied for the program in advance and providing education according to a set schedule.

The education consists of watching videos tailored to the children's level about infectious diseases and proper handwashing, as well as hands-on handwashing experiences using a View Box.

The "View Box" is a hand hygiene inspection device. After children apply a lotion containing fluorescent material to their hands and place them in the device, any remaining fluorescent material becomes visible. This allows children to directly observe the difference before and after handwashing and learn the correct handwashing method.

Jang Inhong, Mayor of Guro District, said, "I hope this program will provide children with an enjoyable opportunity to learn proper hygiene habits in their daily lives," adding, "We will continue our efforts to create a healthy childcare environment in the future."
