At the joint speech event for the 21st presidential election candidates in the Honam region, held at the Kim Dae Jung Convention Center in Gwangju on the same day, Lee said, "Let us move from 'Meoksanism,' which is based on material foundations, to 'Jalsanism,' where a happy life is possible," making these remarks.
He continued, "We are facing changes we have never experienced before. A global economic war has begun with the advent of the Trump second administration," and added, "A new super-scientific civilization centered on artificial intelligence (AI) is coming, where the pages turn in the blink of an eye."
He also said, "The Republic of Korea, as a latecomer, achieved the Miracle on the Han River through imitation. However, in this rapidly changing era of super-scientific technology, imitation no longer works.
In order to survive and win in the harsh international competition, we must now take the lead in the world," he emphasized.
Lee appealed to the sentiments of Honam, quoting Admiral Yi Sun Sin's words, "Without Honam, there is no nation." He said, "In the 70-year history of the Democratic Party, Honam has sometimes been a warm mother and at other times a strict teacher wielding a stick, making the Democratic Party what it is today," and added, "The path walked by former President Kim Dae Jung, who was from Honam, is the path of the Democratic Party and the future of the Republic of Korea."
He went on to say, "Bitgoeul Gwangju will firmly establish itself as an AI-centered city leading the competition in artificial intelligence (AI)," and explained, "Jeonnam and Jeonbuk will be reborn as centers of renewable energy, where RE100 industrial complexes and renewable energy production sites come together through a well-connected energy expressway."
He further added, "Honam, as a hub connecting maritime and land transportation and a treasure trove of renewable energy such as wind and solar power, will now embark on a path of sustainable and balanced development."
