A military clash has occurred at the border between India and Pakistan amid heightened tensions between the two countries following a recent terrorist attack in the disputed region of Indian-administered Kashmir.
According to foreign media outlets such as APF on April 26 (local time), Indian military authorities stated that both sides exchanged gunfire along the Line of Control (LoC) between India and Pakistan from the night of the previous day until the early hours of the same day.
The Indian military reported that Pakistani forces fired rifles "without any justification" at several locations along the LoC in the Kashmir region and said that they "responded appropriately." No casualties have been reported from this exchange of fire.
This clash also occurred on the night of April 24, indicating that tensions between the two countries remain high. In particular, this latest exchange of fire took place as both sides are in conflict over responsibility for the recent terrorist attack in Kashmir.
Indian authorities are conducting a large-scale investigation into the shooting attack that occurred near the tourist destination of Pahalgam in Indian-administered Kashmir on April 22. The attack resulted in 26 deaths and 17 injuries.
Authorities have released the identities of two Pakistani nationals suspected of involvement in the attack and have distributed wanted posters with composite sketches of three individuals. These suspects are believed to be members of the Pakistani terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
India suspects that this incident was carried out by armed groups opposing Indian rule in Kashmir and believes that Pakistan is behind the attack.
