Bus Driver Saves Unconscious Student and Pays Hospital Bills
Chinese Netizens Praise: "Truly a Beautiful Person"
There has been a wave of praise in China for a bus driver who saved a Chinese international student who lost consciousness and collapsed on a bus recently. It has been reported that the driver even paid for the student's hospital bills.
The South China Morning Post (SCMP) published an article on April 25 titled "Korean bus driver saves life of unconscious Chinese student," highlighting the reactions of local netizens.
The incident took place on April 21 in Suji-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi Province. On Village Bus No. 24, which was passing through Kkotmae Intersection in Bojeong-dong, a Chinese international student in their 20s, referred to as A, who is enrolled at Dankook University, suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed.
Lee Siyoung, 54, who was driving the bus, asked the other passengers for their understanding and immediately headed to a nearby hospital. Dankook University students who were also on board performed emergency first aid, such as massaging A's hands and feet.

Arriving at the hospital in just three minutes, Lee carried A, who is 10 centimeters taller than him, on his back up to the fourth floor of the hospital. A regained consciousness and recovered within two hours of receiving treatment.
It was determined that A collapsed due to hypotensive shock after not eating anything for several days. Medical staff stated, "If it had not been for the driver's quick response, the student could have died."
Lee said, "I thought of my two daughters who are university students, so I didn't hesitate to carry the student on my back and run," adding, "It occurred to me that my daughters could suddenly collapse like this one day." Lee also paid for A's hospital expenses.
When news of this incident reached China, netizens responded with comments such as, "He is truly a beautiful and kind person," "I hope good fortune follows the bus driver," and "Love and kindness know no borders."
Meanwhile, Lee received a message from A saying, "Meeting someone as kind as you in a foreign country warmed my heart." A few days later, it was reported that Lee was given a red flag by A's family. The red flag is an honor in China awarded to those who save lives.
