Three out of four buildings at a cosmetics raw material factory located in the industrial complex of Pungse-myeon, Cheonan, Chungnam, were destroyed by fire. No casualties have been reported.
The fire broke out at the cosmetics raw material factory at around 5:31 p.m. on April 25, 2025. The main blaze was brought under control in about one hour and twenty minutes.
Upon receiving the report, the fire department declared Response Level 1 within eight minutes. As it became difficult to contain the fire due to flames erupting, Response Level 2 was declared at 6:06 p.m. Approximately 40 pieces of equipment and 80 personnel were mobilized to extinguish the fire. The initial suppression was achieved at around 6:52 p.m.
Response Level 1 involves the mobilization of all personnel from the local fire station, while Response Level 2 calls for personnel and equipment from five to six neighboring fire stations.
As smoke spread to nearby residential complexes, the city of Cheonan sent an emergency alert message stating, "Due to the large amount of smoke, vehicles should avoid the area and nearby residents are advised to exercise caution."
The fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire and other details as soon as the fire is completely extinguished.
